Independent on Sunday features Alphabet Work
December 2008
The Independent on Sunday have featured a political ad campaign by Alphabet. The article focused on how six top design agencies would handle an a campaign if the government held an election this year.
Our response was to use a striking silhouette of Canary Wharf with the lights turned out in the city. The strapline 'Recession. Proof.' turns the positive phrase into a negative one by use of a full stop. The subtext brought to light Labour's overspending and poor handling of the recession.
Our Creative Director, Jon Brierley, was quoted in the article as saying 'A lack of trust in our leaders is the biggest problem we face in political campaigning. Negative characteristics and incidents seem to sit in our minds for longer'.
